Patient Testimonials

I never thought I would need to see an infectious disease doctor in my life. When the COVID pandemic hit, I was nervous about the whole situation and had concerns about possible exposure. I found TeleMed2U and was immediately connected to Dr. Siddique who I saw on a video call. I was glad to know he specialized only in infectious diseases. He walked me through an assessment and calmed my nerves about going out
to get a test. I highly recommend Dr. Siddique their service.

My entire experience with TeleMed2U was so fast and simple. I had been experiencing a skin rash on my forearm that would not go away for weeks. It was going to be a 2 weeks before the dermatologist could see me after my doctor referral !! I found Telemed2u was able to book a same day appointment with their dermatologist the next day online from home. Ended up being mild eczema. I appreciate having found you guys!

I was feeling overwhelmed with working from home and home schooling the kids at the same time and causing me a lot of stress and anxiety. I love my primary care doctor but this is not something she could see me for. I kept calling around mental health practices and they were either booked out for 3 weeks or not accepting new patients. When I found your group, Dr. Patel saw me the next day and spent a generous amount of time giving me strategies to cope. I am now seeing one of their therapists which has been a huge help!

How is PTSD diagnosed?

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) diagnosis involves a comprehensive evaluation by a mental health professional, normally a psychiatrist or sometimes also a therapist. Our psychiatrists are qualified in the efficient diagnosis and treating of PTSD, they will guide you through an assessment during your initial evaluation appointment, discussing your experiences, feelings, and symptoms. This evaluation follows criteria outlined in the DSM-5, a recognized diagnostic manual used by behavioral health specialists. Sometimes further questionnaires and tests might provide deeper insights but are not essential. Honesty during this process is crucial. If you suspect PTSD or are currently looking for a better provider experience for your PTSD, our service is a good fit for you.TeleMed2U psychiatrists will provide guidance and shed light on your path to understanding, support, and healing from this very common disorder. Remember, seeking help is the first step toward recovery.

How is PTSD treated?

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is typically treated through a combination of medication, psychotherapy, and eventually, self-management coping strategies.

In terms of medication, there are several options available to help manage PTSD symptoms. The first class of medications falls under SSRI, such as Prozac (fluoxetine) or Zoloft (sertraline). Another category is SNRI, which includes Cymbalta (duloxetine) or Effexor XR (venlafaxine). Additionally, medications like Prazosin have been utilized to alleviate nightmares associated with PTSD. In addition to these options, your provider might try Atypical antipsychotics that have also proven effective in reducing anger and intrusive thoughts associated with PTSD.

Psychotherapy stands as a primary treatment for PTSD and can be conducted individually or within a group setting. Trauma-Focused Therapy and Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy are two forms of cognitive-behavioral therapies commonly employed for treating PTSD. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) represents another therapeutic approach involving the processing of traumatic memories while simultaneously focusing on a distracting stimulus, such as hand movements or sounds.

Patients also need to leverage self-management coping strategies that they learn in therapy to manage symptoms and stress. These strategies can include meditation, relaxation techniques, regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy diet, refraining from alcohol and drugs, and ensuring sufficient sleep."
